we took part in a preliminary task where we filmed a small segment of film where it had to involve someone walking through a door. we had to base a story around it to make it griping and to get us ready for what we have to do for our thriller opening coursework.
When our teacher looked at our prelim task, he thought that it was a very good first attempt at filming and editing. what he said to us was that all the editing of the clips were very seamless and very well put together apart from a few. he told us that some clips merged together were a bit ropey but it was over shadowed by some of the other editing that was in our task.
Another thing that was said as being good was the shots that we used. We used some good shots that really portrayed the message that we wanted it to, and they showed things from the characters point of view, the whole scenery and really showed what the characters were thinking.
Some points that we could improve on that were told to us was that we could;d use a tripod for most of the shots that we used. In the task we failed to use a tripod to get smooth and nice running shots. some of the footage that was used was a bit rough, but it was meant to be like that as it was from a characters point of view. so for our proper thriller opening, we are going to use a tripod.
Another point that really needs improving is the long running shots we had in out task. there were shots that were in there that were good, just some of them went on for too long. rather than running for so long we could have quick cut action shots to make things more dramatic and to make the prelim task less boring.
