the overall exam is 2 hours long and is made up of two questions. - section A and section B. Both questions are weighted equally and marked out of 50 each.
Section A: textual analysis and representation
- in this section you will be shown a clip of film (usually around 5 mins) and have to analyse how media concepts are used to build representation.
- you are usually asked to look at how a group, place or thing is represented.
- you will be asked to comment on how the 4 key technical areas contribute this representation
- you will be shown the clip 4 times - no notes during the first viewing, then note taking during and in between viewings.
- you need to show that you can analyse, select relevant examples and use key termanology.
