Everything that is on a television channel is introduced somehow. Normally it is through a voice over and one of the channels own little media pieces. for example, BBC have ones that fit with the genre of their shows, such as the intro before match of the day as seen below.
| here we can see that this is introducing different shows, but the ultimate introduction is to a sports show about football. This is effective as it gives an insight to what the audience is about to view, but it also gives a sense of continuity and organisation about the channel due to the fact that the indent that they have showed fits perfectly with the show. this is why when considering the channel that would be home to our documentary, we needed to consider indents that would fit out project |
In the end, the final decision was made to go with channel 4. channel 4 are known for their clever ideas to make their 4 logo and there are many indents that could fit with our theme of gaming. There were ones such as one set in Tokyo with bright lights, or there was one which was set in the country, but again it had bright lights so it could have fit into gaming. However, in the end we settled on one which was the 4 logo crafted out of pylons.
we thought that this fit the theme of gaming very well as obviously its a got things to do with the electricity, but also because it really about being addicted to gaming, we thought that people are often "wired" to things, like these pylons, so there are some similarities. Also, the darkish colours almost portray that there is going to be dark content to the documentary, almost foreshadowing what will happen in our media piece. | |
