After a few hours of starting to piece the final project together, i have noticed that our documentary has become rather linear. obviously the narrative will be this way as we need to get to the point of the documentary. however, the shots and the archive footage just make it seem very flat. Therefore, i have been looking round at other documentaries to get an idea for what could give our documentary more variation.
Through research and looking around on YouTube for good introductions, i have found something that occurs in many of the documentaries released these days. Right at the beginning of the documentaries, there seems to be a slight introduction before the introduction. what i mean by this, is that there might be 30 seconds of footage where the film maker has showed bad bits later of the film that come later, or maybe shocking or alarming stats at the beginning to get the audience intrigued by what the subject and narrative is about. | This example of BBC panorama shows the little intro before the title screen and i think that would suit the style of our documentary perfectly. |
I think that this would be a great idea to have due to the fact that then we could have a simple title screen with something in the background, like a picture of gaming, or a piece of footage from our filming that we may not use anywhere else.
